I've spent my whole life around dogs. I started training in 4-H when I was 9, and by 17, I'd opened my first dog training business. When I moved to Oahu in 1994, I kept that passion going part-time while earning my B.S. in Zoology — and what started as a side business became a lifelong practice in helping dogs and their owners understand each other.

I'm also a practicing attorney, which gives me a perspective a lot of trainers don't have: I've seen firsthand the real legal and liability risks that come with a poorly behaved dog — something that matters even more here on Oahu, where dogs are constantly out in public, on trails, at the beach, and around visitors from all over the world.

What I want for every dog owner I work with is simple: a loving, harmonious relationship with your dog that doesn't depend on food bribes or a shock collar. That's what Balanced Obedience has always been about, and it's what I still show up for every day.
